Toon Dewerchin
Toon is working at the Hogeschool Gent (University College of Ghent) in Belgium. He initiated the project and is spending as much time (and money) as he can during his holiday’s, helping Vayeng and Vanxay with the Chulha Low Smoke Stove project in Laos.
Vangyeng Tse Shong Thor
Vayeng is a carpenter in Nong Oln, a small village in the north of Laos. He’s a very talented and enthusiastic handyman and is currently building a dedicated workshop for the Chulha project. He is responsible for the production of Chulha stoves and leads the local Chulha team.
Vanxay Thor
Vanxay teaches English at the Pheungxam secondary school in Gnod Lieng, northern Laos. He started talking to Toon about the smoke during cooking and how to solve this problem. That was the start of Toon’s regular visits to Laos. Vanxay was the first who learned to make and install the Chulha.
Harald Voglhuber
Harry is a photographer and filmmaker from Austria (Europe – not Australia – means „Muhlikuh’s, no Kangaroo’s“ ;-)). He was so enthusiastic about the Chulha that he joined Toon in Laos to start up the project. He did help teaching the local villagers how to make the Chulha parts and how to install the stoves. […]
